Things to do in Portugal

From exploring medieval castles to discovering sea caves hidden along the Atlantic coast, Portugal offers experiences to satisfy every type of traveller.

History buffs will enjoy wandering through the Unesco World Heritage Sites dotted around the country to uncover the layers of history left by the Romans, Moors and Christians. With 800 kilometres of coastline, anyone who loves the water will find plenty of places for sand, sun and surf. Foodies can enjoy discovering the range of regional dishes in traditional restaurants and sipping Portugal’s delicious wines direct from the winery.

And my personal favourite thing to do in Portugal – hit the streets and walking trails to discover the country on foot.

Walks & Hikes

From getting lost amongst the charming streets of the country’s old cities to long hikes along empty forest trails, walking allows you to slow down and truly appreciate Portugal’s incredible beauty. So lace up your walking shoes and get out there with these walks and hikes around the country!

Beaches & Swimming

With 800 kilometres of coastline and pleasant weather all year round (well almost), it’s no wonder that Portugal’s beaches are a top drawcard for travellers. Whether you prefer the seemingly endless sandy shores, the hidden beaches accessible only at low tide, or the wild surfing breaks, you won’t be disappointed by Portugal’s coastline.
